5th Grade is working on narrowing their focus on personal
narratives. They spent 10 minutes outside on the playground writing down
everything they could see. Then they made “binoculars” and looked through them
to "force" them to narrow their focus. Next, they listed everything they could see,
only looking through the binoculars. This caused them to narrow their focus
significantly. Then the students applied this idea to their own topics, did a writing
plan, and started writing!
