We had an awesome day on Monday, November 19 when our Grandparents and Special Friends came to spend the part of the day (and a little money at the Book Fair!) with us! Check out some of the things we taught them...

A big thank you goes out to all the Grandparents and Special Friends that were able to join us on this special day!

Honor Flight Fund Raiser

Honor Flight Challenge
Midway Heights is participating in the
Columbia Public Schools Verses Jefferson City Public Schools challenge
November 5th-November 30th

THE CHALLENGE
For the second year in a row, Columbia Public Schools has been challenged by Jefferson City Public Schools to raise money for the Honor Flight.  The goal is to raise as much as possible and more than Jeff City during the month of November.

Our classrooms will be trying to raise 50 cents per student to send veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit their memorials.  It costs $300 to sponsor one veteran on the flight.  With more than 1,000 WWII veterans dying each day (20 each day in Missouri), it's important to express our thanks and gratitude now before time runs out.
WHAT IS HONOR FLIGHT
Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America’s veterans for their sacrifices.  Honor Flight transports our heroes to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials.  Top priority is given to the senior veterans - World War II survivors, along with those other veterans who may be terminally ill. It costs $300 to sponsor one veteran on the flight.

 WHAT CAN YOU DO
Help send a veteran on an Honor Flight and BEAT Jefferson City Public Schools in their challenge by bringing in your spare change.
Classrooms will be collecting spare change from November 5th - November 30th
We will have Patriotic Days on:
Friday, November 9th          Tuesday, November 20th         Friday, November 30th
Wear Red, White and Blue - And bring a quarter or whatever change you can spare

Teachers will be raising money by giving $1.00 for each day they were jeans through the month of November.

Thank you in advance for any spare change you can put toward
this cause to help honor our veterans.

Let’s see how many veterans we can honor through our support of the Honor Flight
and of course beat Jeff City!

Columbia Public Schools goal is for each classroom to raise $10.00 to support sending veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit their memorials.

3rd Grade - Musical Instruments

I can create an instrument that changes pitch.  This means that I understand how size, length, tension, and thickness can affect how my instrument sounds.
